Broker Ecosystem: Open vs. MetaTrader-Only

RelayDesk

RelayDesk connects to US equity brokers including Alpaca, Interactive Brokers, TradeStation, and Tradier, as well as crypto exchanges and futures brokers. Any account accessible via a modern broker API is within scope.

PineConnector

PineConnector works exclusively with MT4/MT5 brokers. It cannot connect to Alpaca, TradeStation, Robinhood, Tradovate, or any broker not running the MetaTrader platform. This limits it primarily to forex, indices, and CFD trading.

Cloud-Native vs. VPS Dependency

RelayDesk

RelayDesk is fully cloud-based. No software installation is required, no local machine needs to stay running, and no VPS is needed. You access the platform through a browser from any device.

PineConnector

PineConnector requires a MetaTrader Expert Advisor installed locally. Mac users are warned the setup may be unstable. Windows or a Windows VPS is the recommended path, adding ongoing complexity and cost to your setup.

Asset Class Coverage: Multi-Asset vs. Forex and CFD-Centric

RelayDesk

RelayDesk supports stocks, futures, options, crypto, and forex across a range of brokers and asset classes. Traders can automate strategies across every market they trade from one platform.

PineConnector

PineConnector supports forex, indices, commodities, and crypto, but only as CFDs through MetaTrader. There is no support for direct US equity trading, US futures brokers such as Tradovate or NinjaTrader, or direct crypto exchange connections.

Relay AI and Bot Builder vs. EA Configuration

RelayDesk

RelayDesk provides a visual Bot Builder for strategy configuration and an AI assistant for guided setup. Relay answers questions about settings, explains what each option does, and helps troubleshoot without leaving the platform.

PineConnector

PineConnector configuration is done through EA parameter files and Pine Script alert syntax. There is no AI assistant and no visual Bot Builder. Setup requires familiarity with MetaTrader EA configuration and TradingView Pine Script alert formatting.
