Frequently asked questions
Answers about setup, pricing, brokers and how RelayDesk manages your trades.
Getting Started
What is RelayDesk?
RelayDesk is a trading automation platform that transforms your trading signals into optimized, risk-managed trades. It provides intelligent exit management, multi-level profit taking, and 24/7 position monitoring, allowing traders to focus on strategy rather than execution.
How does RelayDesk work?
RelayDesk integrates with brokers through secure OAuth connections. You maintain full control of your broker account and can revoke access at any time. When a signal arrives, RelayDesk turns it into an order in under 50ms and manages the whole trade, from entry through multi-level exits.
Do I need coding experience?
No coding required. If you have TradingView strategies, you can connect them via webhooks with a few clicks, and bots are configured in a guided builder.
Which brokers and exchanges does RelayDesk support?
RelayDesk integrates with Alpaca, Tradier, Public, Charles Schwab, tastytrade, and Moomoo for both stocks and options trading. Paper trading is available on supported brokers (Alpaca and Moomoo); Charles Schwab and tastytrade are live only. Additional broker integrations are on our roadmap.
Can I test strategies before risking real money?
Yes. All plans include paper trading on supported brokers with real market data (number of concurrently active bots is limited per tier). Test your strategies, analyze MFE/MAE metrics, and optimize before going live. When ready, deploy to live trading with one click.
Pricing & Plans
How much does RelayDesk cost?
Basic is $49.99/month, Advanced is $99.99/month (the recommended tier), and Pro is $249.99/month. Annual billing saves 20%. Whichever plan you choose starts with a 30-day free trial, on monthly or annual billing, credit card required. If you don't cancel, it continues as a paid subscription to that plan.
Is there really a free trial?
Yes. Every new account gets a 30-day free trial of the plan you choose at signup, with that plan's full features. Pick Advanced, for example, and you trial Advanced, research suite included. If you don't pick a plan, the trial is of Basic. A credit card is required at signup, the plan's price and first charge date are shown before you add your card, and the trial converts to a paid subscription to that plan unless you cancel before it ends.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
You can upgrade or downgrade anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. No contracts or lock-ins.
Do you offer refunds?
Cancel before your free trial ends and you are not charged. After that, subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period starts, including for partial months, cancellations and downgrades. If a verified RelayDesk platform failure completely prevents you from using the service, email [email protected] within 7 days and we will review it case by case. See the Refund Policy in our Terms of Service.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees. The price you see is what you pay. Your broker may charge commissions and fees separately; those are paid directly to your broker, not RelayDesk.
Features & Capabilities
What is multi-level take profit?
Multi-level take profit allows you to automatically exit portions of your position at different price levels. For example, take 25% profit at +1R, 50% at +2R, and let 25% run to +5R. You lock in part of a winner while the rest keeps running.
How does progressive stop-loss work?
Progressive stop-loss automatically moves your stop-loss to breakeven or profit as the trade moves in your favor. As you hit take-profit levels, the stop tightens to lock in gains. This protects profits while giving winners room to run.
What is the exit latency?
Signals become orders in under 50ms from the moment RelayDesk receives them. Take-profit and stop-loss levels are watched by an event-driven engine that reacts to price updates as they stream in, instead of checking on a timer.
What assets can I trade?
Options (0DTE, weekly and monthly contracts, including multi-leg strategies), plus stocks and ETFs with whole-share, fractional or dollar-based sizing. Index options such as SPX are available on supported brokers.
What are MFE/MAE analytics?
Maximum Favorable Excursion (MFE) and Maximum Adverse Excursion (MAE) show how far in your favor or against you each trade moved before exiting. These metrics help you tune your exits: if MFE is consistently 3R but you're only capturing 1.5R, you can adjust take-profit levels.
Risk Management & Security
How does RelayDesk protect my account?
RelayDesk includes several safeguards: daily loss limits that stop a bot for the day, spread checks before entry, position limits to control exposure, and end-of-day closing for options that expire that day. You define account-level limits before a trade is routed.
Can RelayDesk access my broker funds?
No. RelayDesk can only place trades through a secure OAuth connection to your broker; it cannot withdraw funds, transfer money, or access your account outside of trading. You maintain full control and can revoke access anytime through your broker dashboard.
Is my data secure?
Your broker connection is secured through OAuth, so we never see or store your credentials. You maintain full control and can revoke access anytime. Your broker holds your funds, not us.
What happens if RelayDesk goes down?
RelayDesk manages each trade from entry to exit, so your targets and stops run on our engine. Your positions and funds always stay in your own broker account, so if we ever have an outage you can still see and close any trade directly with your broker. We post incidents and updates on our status page (relaydesk.io/status) until service is restored.
Can I manually override automated trades?
Yes, you can manually close positions or disable automation anytime. Your broker account is always accessible for manual intervention. You can also set daily loss limits that stop a bot for the rest of the day.
Setup & Support
How long does setup take?
Most users complete setup in 5-10 minutes. Steps: (1) Connect your broker, (2) Connect your Signals via webhook, (3) Configure risk parameters, (4) Deploy to paper trading. Our guided setup wizard walks you through each step.
What support options are available?
Every plan includes email support (trial accounts get the same support as Basic) and our Discord community. On business days we reply within 48 hours on Basic, 24 hours on Advanced and 12 hours on Pro. Documentation and setup guides are free for everyone.
Do you offer onboarding or training?
Yes. The documentation walks you through setup step by step, the Learning Center has tutorials and structured learning paths, and the team answers questions in our Discord.
Can I integrate my own custom strategies?
Absolutely. If you have TradingView strategies, you can connect them via webhooks with a few clicks. Any tool that can send a webhook works the same way.
What if I get stuck?
Start with the documentation and the Learning Center. Join our Discord community, where the team and other traders help each other. Email support handles more complex issues, with faster response times on higher plans.
TradingView Integration
How do I connect TradingView to RelayDesk?
Create alerts in TradingView with webhook URLs from your RelayDesk Signal. When your TradingView indicator triggers an alert, it sends a webhook to RelayDesk, which executes the trade. Setup takes 2-3 minutes with our step-by-step guide.
Do I need TradingView Pro?
TradingView Essential, Pro, Premium, or Ultimate account (Alerts and webhooks require paid plan) is required for webhook alerts. The free TradingView plan does not support webhooks. If you don't use TradingView, any tool that can send a webhook works too.
Can I use Pine Script strategies?
Yes. Convert your Pine Script strategy into alerts that send webhooks to RelayDesk. Most Pine Script strategies can be automated with minimal modification.
What if TradingView is down?
If TradingView is down, new signals won't arrive, but trades that are already open keep being managed by RelayDesk, with their targets and stops still running. You can also check or close any position yourself in your broker.
